Câu điều kiện loại 2 là gì?

Nằm trong 4 loại câu điều kiện cơ bản của tiếng Anh, câu điều kiện loại 2 nói về những sự việc trong tương lai.

Khái niệm

Câu điều kiện loại 2 là câu dùng để miêu tả hành động hay tình huống sự việc có thể sẽ không xảy ra ở tương lai với điều kiện nhất định không có thật ở hiện tại.

Cấu trúc câu điều kiện loại 2

If S1 + V1, S2 + would + V2 

Trong đó:

• S1, S2: Chủ ngữ
• V1: Động từ chia ở thì quá khứ đơn
• V2: Động từ chia ở dạng nguyên thể

Lưu ý:

• “be” chia thì quá khứ là “were”
• “would” thay được thành “could”, “might” 

Cách sử dụng câu điều kiện loại 2

Câu điều kiện loại 2 thường được sử dụng cho các mục đích sau:

• Diễn tả sự việc không có khả năng diễn ra.

Ví dụ: If she did not eat so much chocolate, she would not gain weight.

• Khuyên bảo người khác

Ví dụ: If I were you, I would exercise regularly.

Đảo ngữ câu điều kiện loại 2

Ở dạng câu điều kiện đảo ngữ, câu điều kiện loại 2 có dạng:

Were + S + …, S + would/should + V

và Were + S + to V, S + would/should + V

Ví dụ: 

• Were she here, she would help us.
• Were he to ask for help, they would assist him.

Biến thể câu điều kiện loại 2

Biến thể câu điều kiện loại 2 có 2 loại: Biến thể mệnh đề If và biến thể mệnh đề chính.

Biến thể mệnh đề if

If + Thì quá khứ tiếp diễn, S + would/could + V-inf

If + Thì quá khứ hoàn thành, S + would/could + V-inf

Ví dụ:

• If he knew they were studying, he wouldn’t bother them.
• If Ann had finished his homework yesterday, he would be really happy.

Biến thể mệnh đề chính

If + Thì quá khứ đơn, S + would/could/might/had to… + be + V-ing

If + Thì quá khứ đơn, Thì quá khứ đơn

Ví dụ:

• If it were Wednesday, Bill would be working at his company.
• If Mai finished her study, she was free tonight.

Dạng 1: Hoàn thành câu

1. If they (invite) us, we (come) to their party.
2. If he (exercise) regularly, he (be) healthier.
3. If he (not/be) so tired, he (join) us for dinner.
4. If it (be) warmer, we (go) camping.
5. If you (not/tell) me, I (not/know) about the sale.

Đáp án:

• If they invited us, we would come to their party.

• If he exercised regularly, he would be healthier.

• If he were not so tired, he would join us for dinner.

• If it were warmer, we would go camping.

• If you did not tell me, I would not know about the sale.

Dạng 2: Sắp xếp lại từ ngữ:

Đáp án:

• He would join us for dinner if he were not so tired.

• She would pass the exam if she studied harder.

• I would not know about the sale if you did not tell me.

• We would not go for a walk if it did not rain.

• If I had more time, I would learn to play the guitar.

• We would come to their party if they invited us.

• She would not gain weight if she did not eat so much chocolate.

• I would bake a cake if you told me you were coming.

• We would go camping if it were warmer.

• He would be healthier if he exercised regularly.

Dạng 3: Sắp xếp lại câu:

1. They will visit the museum. They have more free time.
2. She doesn’t study hard. She doesn’t pass the exam.
3. He won’t come to the party. He doesn’t receive an invitation.
4. The weather is not nice. We won’t have a picnic.
5. He doesn’t exercise regularly. He isn’t healthy.
6. She eats too much chocolate. She gains weight.
7. He is so tired. He won’t join us for dinner.
8. She doesn’t know about the sale. You don’t tell her.
9. They don’t go camping. It is not warmer.
10. You don’t set the alarm. You are late.

Đáp án:

1. If they had more free time, they would visit the museum.
2. If she studied hard, she would pass the exam.
3. If he received an invitation, he would come to the party.
4. If the weather were nice, we would have a picnic.
