Tương tự như các chủ đề khác, để hiểu rõ và dễ dàng ghi nhớ, chúng ta sẽ chia từ vựng xoay quanh topic Writing thành các nhóm từ vựng chính của chủ đề, nhóm cụm từ vựng và idioms

Các cụm từ vựng chủ đề Writing (Collocations và Idioms)
- (Clearly/ perfectly) legible handwriting/Clear handwriting: chữ viết tay dễ đọc.
- Illegible handwriting: chữ viết khó đọc, không đọc được
unintelligible handwriting: chữ viết tay không rõ ràng, gần như không hiểu được

- Cursive handwriting: Chữ viết hoa, cách điệu

- Do you usually write by hand or write using a computer?
To be honest, most of the time when I want to compose something, I would rather turn my laptop up and make use of the word-processor to write something. Besides, my handwwriting is hardly legible.

- Nowadays, how do most people write things?
I would say that they no longer write letters by hand as much as they used to do many years ago. Even some businesses prefer to be e-mailed. And for friends, you can always contact them online, by texting or just by phone call. Once computers and e-mail came out, most people stopped composing handwritten letters.

- Do you think computers might one day replace handwriting?
I do think so, but for writing letters, it’s a No from me. The jotters will probably be computers which you can write on with a stylus. The technology is already there and will no doubt become cheap enough for everyone to own a cyber jotter. Anyway, I think there will be occasions that people use handwriting such as birthday cards and so on, but for the most part handwriting will be old school.

- Do you often write with a pen?
No. I mostly type on my laptop because it’s easier and faster. I just use a pen when I have to
sign something or when I have to write down some notes.

Probably yes, I suppose. It’s not beautiful but I’m sure it’s legible enough for people to understand accurately what I write. I mean I’ve never heard anyone complain about my handwriting.
- Do you like to receive cards with hand-written words?
I receive emails every day and hand-written cards on only special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries so of course I treasure these cards more. They feel much more personal than emails, too.
- Can we tell someone’s personality from his or her handwriting?
I think yes. A person who has penmanship is often very careful. In contrast, people who write untidily tend to be careless and adventurous.
- What’s the difference between writing with a pen and typing on a computer?
I think it would be much more convenient typing on a computer because you can correct everything quickly and your bad handwriting is never a problem. But when you write something with a pen, you must be more careful.
